Bibhas Chakraborty (Bengali: বিভাস চক্রবর্তী; 1937-) is a leading Bengali theatre personality. He is an actor, playwright, theatre director, and theatre organiser. He received Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 1989.[1] An influential theatre practitioner for the past 5 decades, Bibhas Chakraborty made equally significant contributions to dramaturgy, theatrical production, and teaching.
Born in Sylhet, Assam (now in Bangladesh),he studied in Presidency College, Calcutta. He is primarily active in Bengali theatre, however, he acted in many Bengali films.
